Case 580 Super N
The Case 580 Super N backhoe loader is one of the most versatile pieces of construction
equipment ever made. It's a loader on the front, an excavator on the back, and can be
equipped with forks, hammers, augers, and more. If you could only own one machine on a
job site, this would be it.
Case invented the backhoe loader in 1957 and has been refining it ever since. The 580
series is their flagship line, and the Super N represents the latest evolution of decades
of engineering.
Why It's So Versatile
- Loader Front — Move dirt, gravel, materials. Load trucks. Grade surfaces. Clear debris.
- Backhoe Rear — Dig trenches, excavate footings, break rock. Precision work in tight spaces.
- 4WD Mobility — Drive between job sites on roads. No trailer needed for short moves.
- Quick-Attach System — Swap buckets, forks, hammers, augers in minutes.
- Compact Footprint — Works in residential areas where full-size excavators can't fit.

Key Features
- PowerLift — Increases lifting capacity by up to 40%. Handle heavy loads that would normally require a bigger machine.
- ProControl System — Minimizes backhoe rebound for precise digging. Less wasted motion, more control.
- Load-Sensing Hydraulics — Smooth, efficient power delivery. Only uses the hydraulic pressure you need.
- Comfort Steer — Fewer steering wheel rotations for faster loading cycles. Less fatigue over long days.
- Auto-Ride Control — Cushions loader bounce when traveling. Keeps material in the bucket, operator comfortable.
- Over-Center Backhoe Design — Better balance when driving. Improved departure angle.
Common Uses
- Digging trenches for utilities (water, sewer, electric, gas)
- Excavating foundations and footings
- Loading trucks with dirt, gravel, or debris
- Grading and leveling surfaces
- Breaking concrete and rock (with hammer attachment)
- Drilling holes for posts or piers (with auger attachment)
- Moving pallets and materials (with fork attachment)
- Snow removal
Personal Note
We used a borrowed backhoe on day one of the house remodel to replace the sewer line.
There's no other single machine that could dig the trench, break up the old pipe,
backfill the hole, and grade the yard afterward. When you know how to run one of these,
you can solve almost any problem on a job site.
