geoMessage Privacy Policy

geoMessage is a daily geography game that runs inside iMessage. Everyone gets the same Street View location each day, you drop a pin to guess where it is, and you score points based on how close you are. This policy explains exactly what data the app handles, how it is used, and how it is stored.

Information We Collect

geoMessage is designed to collect as little as possible. Depending on how you choose to play, the app may handle:

Apple ID identifier — only if you choose Sign in with Apple. This lets the app save your streak and scores and, optionally, sync your entry to a global leaderboard.
Display name — the name you choose, or the name provided by Sign in with Apple, shown next to your score.
Gameplay data — your daily score, guess distance, streak, and games played.
Purchase status — handled by Apple. The app stores only whether the game has been unlocked on your device.

If you choose Continue as Player instead of Sign in with Apple, a local profile is created on your device and no Apple ID identifier is collected.

How We Use Your Information

Data is used only to run the game: to show your score and streak, to remember whether you have played today's puzzle, and, when you opt in, to display your entry on the global or chat leaderboard. We do not use your data for advertising or profiling.

Data Storage

Your progress, scores, and profile are stored locally on your device. If you sign in and the global leaderboard is enabled, your display name and daily score are synced to a secure Supabase database so they can appear on the leaderboard. No other personal information is sent off your device.

Tracking

geoMessage does not track you across apps or websites and does not use any advertising or analytics SDKs. There is no third-party tracking of any kind.

Third-Party Services

geoMessage relies on the following services to function:

Apple — Sign in with Apple, iMessage, and App Store purchases.
Google Maps / Street View — provides the panorama imagery you explore while guessing, subject to Google's terms.
Supabase — optional. Hosts the global leaderboard database when enabled.

Account Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time inside the app: open the geoMessage app, go to the account screen, and tap Delete Account & Data. This permanently removes your streak, scores, and local profile from the device and removes your leaderboard entry. You can also sign out at any time.

Data Retention

Local data remains on your device until you delete it or remove the app. Leaderboard entries are retained only while relevant to the daily and recent boards and are removed when you delete your account.

Children's Privacy

geoMessage is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
