Cursor Community Event - March 13

Planning page for hosting the first Cursor Ambassador community event. This is a local meetup for developers to learn about Cursor, meet other builders, and get free Cursor credits.

Venue & Setup

Book venue / confirm space Confirm the building, room, capacity, and hours
Get a banner for outside the building Cursor-branded or custom event banner so people can find it
AV setup -- screen, projector, or TV for demos
Wi-Fi info ready for attendees

Cursor Credits

Cursor provides credits for community events. There are multiple tools from the ambassador community to distribute them.

Request credit codes from Cursor Reach out through the Ambassador Notion or Slack channel
Choose a distribution method Options: credits portal (self-service), credits app (email), or cafe CLI (local)
Set up the chosen credits tool and test it
Prepare attendee CSV from Luma / registration Needs: first_name, last_name, email columns

Credit Distribution Tools:

cursor-credits-portal -- Self-service web portal. Attendees claim codes themselves via event-specific URLs. Built with Next.js + Firebase.

cursor-credits -- Backend email distribution. Upload CSV, assign codes, send personalized emails via Resend.

cafe-cursor-cli -- CLI tool. Manage and send credits locally via CSV or cloud (Convex). Good for in-person distribution.

Food & Drinks

Order coffee Estimate headcount, figure out catering or coffee run
Get snacks Simple stuff -- chips, cookies, fruit, etc.
Water bottles or cups
Napkins, plates, cups if needed

Swag & Materials

Get Cursor stickers Check with Cursor team or order custom ones
Name tags or badges
QR code for event page / registration The cursor-qr-code-generator repo can help with this
Printed agenda or schedule

Content & Agenda

Plan the event format Demo, workshop, open hack, lightning talks, or mix
Prepare a Cursor demo or presentation Check cursor-deck-template for a ready-made slide deck
Set a rough timeline Welcome, demo, hack time, wrap-up, etc.
Plan an icebreaker or networking activity

Promotion & Registration

Create event on Luma (or similar)
Post on social media / local dev communities
Share in Cursor Slack / Discord
Send reminder to registered attendees Day before and morning of
